GRACE & GLORY
Exterior photos of VIKING GRACE and VIKING GLORY. The two ships, with gross tonnages of 56,850 and 65,211 respectively, from 2013 and 2021, represent the latest generation of classic cruise ferry tonnage between Stockholm, the Åland Islands, and Turku. The traffic between Sweden, the Åland Islands, and Finland is the birthplace of the cruise ferry concept, where the majority of passengers sail back and forth on “mini-cruises” for a relatively modest ticket price. In exchange, the large, luxuriously equipped ferries offer numerous opportunities for additional onboard spending. The stopover in the Åland Islands also allows, despite both Sweden and Finland being in the EU, for the sale of duty-free goods onboard, which is a significant part of the commercial business model behind the cruise ferry phenomenon.
